No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This cooktop scratches easy. We cook a lot and this cooktop is not for cooking with iron skillets or heavy pans and pots. You have to wipe the surface several times with soap and water to get it clean. You dry it with a cloth to keep water spots from showing, aluminum not stainless. I would not recommend this cook top.

So far, so good works well. We wipe clea n almost everytime we use it. If not it may be a pain.

The cooktop is not only beautiful but the performance is excellent as well. The middle burner is very powerful and enables one to boil water quickly. The burners are well placed on the cooktop which provides ample room for pots. I love the three grate setup which makes cleaning easier. I am glad that I purchased tthis product.
