Great but not perfect

I've been using this cook top for 2 1/2 years now. The only two complaints I have are:1. The large round burner on the left definitely doesn't match up with the knobs level of heat. All the other ones do. I have to look at the flames for the large round burner to determine whether it's at a simmer, low, med or high heat.2. I wish the knobs came off so that I can clean more thoroughly.

Decent performance, some drawbacks

I've been using this cooktop for almost two years. As far as heating is concerned, it is fairly efficient. Certainly the dials and burners are easy to use. My biggest issues are related to cleaning. The stainless is difficult to clean if you let a spill dry. Also, after a few cleanings, the text started to wash off the surface, so some dials no longer read high, medium, or low.

Alrighty then

Our initial purchase was a year ago. We used the cooktop once or twice a week at the very most. Within a couple of months of use, the composite material that forms a buffer between the burner gratings and the stainless steel cooktop surface melted. The heat transferred from the gratings to the surface resulted in a severe discoloration of the stainless steel.Because the (1) damage did not affect the operation of the cooktop (referred to as "an aesthetic problem" by Whirlpool) and (2) the product failure did not occur within the 30-day warranty period from the date of purchase, replacing the cooktop not covered by the warranty. No "if's and or but's." "Too bad, so sad to be you" was the attitude at Whirlpool. So, we were stuck with a deeply discolored stainless steel surface in a brand new kitchen or purchasing a replacement at our cost.We sucked purchased a new cooktop . . . and have been assured the composite material on the new cooktop will not fail.We are now outside the 30-day period warranty period once again. With limited use, so far so good. We'll see.

I was nervous to buy this signt unseen, but the deal was too good to pass up. I am thrilled with the longer top burner and the controls at the front, which make for ease of use. It looks great and is a much higher-grade/professional cooktop than I had expected.

Poor Cooktop Grill Design

I bought this two years ago and while I have enjoyed cooking on the range, the design of the Grills that mount above the burners is poor. I have had them replaced twice and the problem keeps recurring. They 3 grill pieces have small rubber caps where they touch the stainless steel surface to prevent scratching. These fall out during the first cleaning. There is no way to keep from scratching the surface of the range once they fall out. I called with the issue and was sent and entire new set whose feet then fell out within a week.
